I have used this book often in my own homeschool—the experiments are great! After a discussion of the heart, you get to squeeze a tennis ball to feel just how much force the heart uses when it pumps. Then you get to make your own simple stethoscope out of a plastic bottle. Text is friendly and funny and the projects are easy and practical. This book’s drawbacks are a few naked drawings and the author’s belief in evolution. Dissections (of animal organs from your local butcher) are directed for those of you non-queasy folk. Fourteen chapters cover the skin, heart, kidneys, teeth, lungs, ears, eyes, brain, and more: a wonderful hands-on unit study of the human body.
