Cold/Hot Pack

To make your own reusable pack, you will need:
1 piece of soft fabric (polar fleece, flannel, etc.) , size 12 x 12"
1 piece of woven fabric such as muslin, cotton, size 12 x 12"
Whole grain (wheat, millet, rice or whatever other grain you have on hand)

Lay the soft fabric on top the woven fabric, right side up. Fold lengthwise, so that the soft fabric folds over onto itself, right sides together. Sew short end, and across long side, leaving other short end open. Turn right side out and fill loosely with whole grain. Stitch across the open end, tucking raw edges inside. Store in plastic zip-lock bag in the freezer. When needed for a bump or scrape, the pack will be cold and ready to use. Can also be put in the microwave to heat and be used as a hot pack. The oil in the grain will keep the pack hot or cold for a long period. Stored in the freezer between use, to keep the grain fresh.
Combine and store in an airtight container.

Hi!
I am Diane Hopkins, mother of 7 children (ages 14 to 34) whom I have had the privilege of homeschooling over the past 23 years. I'm a mom, just like you, and have those fabulous days and those not-so-good days like we all do. My hope in writing is to share experiences, and hopefully we can encourage one another in this wonderful, intense adventure of childraising--that is really what homeschooling is, after all.
Hoping to help, if I can!
Love, Diane
