Saxon Physics Complete Homeschool Kit, 1st Edition
Saxon has an excellent track record, and uses their "spiral learning" approach in this book as well. Each lesson reviews every skill previously taught to aid in retention of concepts and skills. Problem topics are mixed in each set with those from previous sections thus the student learns not just how to do problems in an isolated context but in many different contexts. Calculus is used, so best to have that under your belt, or be studying it as you jump into this book. Lessons cover: projectiles, sliding blocks on inclined planes, springs, vectors, friction, rotary motion, banked curves, simple machines and more. This is a challenging book for high school students or first year college students that are ready to tackle real science! 100 lessons, appendix with selected tables, periodic table of the elements, answers to odd-numbered problems, 796 pages. Black and white-the format is set up like a math book. Excellent prep for the AP Physics or SAT exam.
