We have used—and absolutely loved!—these science courses on DVDs!
Wes Olson, host of The 101 Series, presents the amazing mechanics behind God's physical world in Physics 101. This DVD course is an easy-to-use, understandable and visually rich curriculum designed specifically for ages 15 years and up, although my entire family enjoyed it and even our 8 year old understood a lot and paid attention.
This 4 DVD set contains 20 individual lessons examining the world of Physics and the inner workings of the world around us. On the last disc, you will find the guidebook with quizzes covering the material presented in each lesson, plus additional study material, information and 32 hours of easy-to-do and fascinating physics labs included. Plus there is an Accreditation Booklet which will take the student through 130 hours of studies.
The film represents over 9,000 hours and 3 years of research and development. Physics 101 was thoroughly reviewed over a period of a year and a half by two Ph.D. physicists including the head of the physics department of a major US university and both of whom worked at Los Alamos National Laboratories where the physics for the original atomic bomb was developed.
Here's how I use these DVD courses: Print off one guidebook for each student, which they will use in a fill-in-the-blank format after watching the DVD lesson. Also print off the quizzes and lab information. Put these in a binder, start the DVD, and you'll have a very complete and thrilling basic Physics course for every student in your family! Easy to understand and interesting. Far better than a textbook course!
